Immagino di essere il pezzo di legno situato accanto a quello che Geppetto ha trovato per creare il burattino (puppet, marionette) Pinocchio. Io e quel pezzo di legno siamo molto simili: entrambi (both) forti, tondi e lunghi con alcuni dossi (bumps) e nodi (knots) ben posizionati, e un po' di corteccia (bark) per dare enfasi.
Non è possibile trattenere (contain, hold) per me la mia gelosia nei confronti di Pinocchio. Sono certo che, se avessi gambe, braccia e mani, sarei molto popolare tra le ragazze di legno.
Non ho la voce di Pinocchio, ma credo che quel miracolo sia avvenuto quando lui è stato tagliato con gli strumenti di Geppetto. Mi dà molto fastidio (it bothers me a lot) pensare che presto verrò utilizzato nel fuoco del camino, trasformato da legno in legna (firewood). Sono molto triste di non avere la possibilità di incontrare la fata turchina e diventare un vero ragazzo. Spero che, quando arriverà il momento del mio incendio, mi sarò addormentato e non mi sveglierò.

It bothers me a lot to think that soon I will be used in the fireplace fire, turned from wood to firewood. I am very sad not to have the chance to meet the Blue Fairy and become a real boy. I hope that when the time comes for my burning, I will have fallen asleep and will not wake up.
