“A Tavola”: Italian through food and culture ON ZOOM with Caterina

Food is so much more than what’s on your plate—it’s a window into Italian language, culture, and everyday life! In A Tavola!, we’ll explore Italian through “L’italiano per la cucina” by Alma Edizioni, a unique learning resource that combines storytelling, language, and the traditions behind some of Italy’s most beloved recipes. Each lesson will take us on a little culinary journey through selected stories and recipes, helping us expand our food-related vocabulary, review grammar in context, and discover Italian expressions, sayings, and cultural curiosities. We’ll practice reading comprehension, discuss our own food preferences and experiences, and use conversation activities to become more confident expressing ourselves in Italian. From understanding recipes and cooking techniques to discovering regional specialties and the expressions Italians use when talking about food, we’ll learn language you can actually use—whether you’re chatting with friends, exploring a local market in Italy, or ordering at your favorite trattoria. Course details: 👉🏻Level: A2–B1 (pre-intermediate to intermediate) 👉🏻 Materials: L’italiano per la cucina by Alma Edizioni (An online copy will be provided) 👉🏻 Cooking the recipes is optional! Come ready to learn, share, and discover Italian culture one recipe at a time. What you will need: 1. Access to Google Drive 2. Pen, paper and good attitude. **Please note: class requires a minimum of 8 students, so we reserve the right to cancel the event (and provide a refund), should the minimum not be reached *We want to foster a positive, all-inclusive environment so controversial topics are going to be excluded. We also encourage you to treat your fellow Italian lovers with respect by talking when it's your turn and not judging anyone's skill level! *Please be aware that each teacher has her own individual style and way of communicating material to students.
